Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced host to take the lead and charge in creating a welcoming and smooth experience for guests as they arrive at the restaurant, while being able to properly maintain the flow for seamless execution by our front of house and back of house staff. This individual will lead the host team, manage floor seating assignments, greet every guest with warmth and confidence, and ensure that proper pacing relative to reservations and walk-ins is handled with hospitality and grace. The ideal candidate is poised, professional, personable, calm under pressure, and deeply committed to creating an outstanding guest experience. This position requires equal parts hospitality, personality, organization, engagement with guests, knowledge, quick thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a front door presence with genuine warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism
- Managing reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and guest seating using the Tock system
- Controlling the guest flow throughout service, to ensure best seating locations, timing for seating, pacing restrictions, wait times, and smooth operations - - - - Coordinating with servers, bartenders, management, and kitchen team on pacing, seating strategy, and guest accommodations
- Anticipating guest needs, and being able to resolve issues quickly, and ensure smooth service flow throughout the venue and throughout service
- Encouraging guest relations by engaging with guests, and learning about guest preferences
- Maintaining awareness of repeat guests, special events, and special considerations
- Overseeing all front desk and door operations, including cleanliness, organization, and communication between other hosts and staff
- Contributing to a positive, team-oriented work culture, and setting an example for professionalism and hospitality for the rest of the team
- Providing a memorable, positive, and happy guest experience
Key Qualifications
5+ years of experience in restaurant and hospitality industry in a lead front facing position to guests
Personable, confident, and highly approachable demeanor
Strong organizational, verbal communication skills, and interpersonal abilities
Ability to multitask in high-energy and high-volume environments
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and manage guest expectations tactfully
Professional demeanor, polished appearance, and a natural sense of hospitality
Availability to work days, late nights, weekends, and holidays
Familiarity with Tock reservation platforms preferred
