DOORMAN / DOOR HOST

Mama Foo Foo is looking for a confident, professional, and personable Doorman to be the first point of contact for our guests. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and organized entrance while helping enforce Mama Foo Foo’s house rules and age/ID requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and professionally as they arrive.
• Check IDs and verify guests meet our 21+ age requirement.
• Ensure identification is valid and acceptable under Mama Foo Foo’s ID policy.
• Monitor the entrance and prevent unauthorized entry.
• Enforce house rules regarding attire, bags, weapons, fighting, and guest behavior.
• Politely but firmly address guests who are intoxicated, disruptive, aggressive, or otherwise not permitted to enter.
• Maintain a visible presence at the door throughout assigned shifts.
• Communicate with management, bartenders, hosts, and security regarding any guest concerns or incidents.
• Monitor the flow of guests entering the building, particularly during busy periods.
• Assist with maintaining a safe environment inside and immediately outside the entrance.
• Recognize potential conflicts early and notify management before situations escalate.
• Do not physically engage with guests unless necessary to protect yourself or another person from immediate harm.
• Document or report significant incidents to management.
• Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Mama Foo Foo’s upscale atmosphere.
• Provide excellent customer service while confidently enforcing policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Guest Entry Standards

The Doorman is expected to consistently enforce Mama Foo Foo’s entrance policies, including:

• 21+ only
• Valid identification required
• No weapons
• No backpacks or luggage
• No beachwear
• No athletic wear
• No fighting, play fighting, or discussion intended to provoke a confrontation
• Guests who are visibly intoxicated, aggressive, or disruptive may be denied entry at management’s discretion.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a bar, restaurant, nightclub, hospitality, security, or customer-facing environment preferred.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods.
• Able to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Confident enforcing policies without unnecessary confrontation.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

The Doorman represents Mama Foo Foo before a guest ever reaches the bar.
